sorry in the excitement I forgot to detail on the learning procedure. I wont say that I dint work at all folks. I did a few things devotedly for 15 days.
Watched english movies daily. Took totally 10 sample tests for first 3 sections. I have always felt that I can manage writing, but still I wrote 2 essays for writing section and got inputs on it from my friend. So I decided on my style of writing before going for the exam. Hope my inputs are useful pals.
Thank you. |

wow, that's a bunch of awesome scores! compliments!
I gto my scores too, I thought I messed up more but they're not so bad after all... Reading:29 Listening:28 Speaking:22 Writing:29 Total: 108
I'm mad about that speaking and listening scores...most of all, I'm somewhat mad at myself, at some point, when peoplestarted to talk, the room got very noisy and I just couldn't focus anymore. speaking, well, I'm just a tad shy when it comes to speaking, and I literally had to yank words out of my mouth. although I speak english everyday, that SUCKED. but again, that's not a bad as I thought. |

Hi there ppl. I got my scores as well. I never studied for the test since I learned the language as I grew up. I just looked up how the test was going to be. I got a total score of 105 Reading 24 Listening 29 Speaking 24 Writing 28
I'm pretty mad cause I'm sure I did better than that in the speaking section. The writing I admit I ran out of time sometimes as I was stressed and just reviewing things a lot. I think I deserve more in the speaking though. Generally I'm very happy with the result. I was very stressed taking up the test hehe. |

congrats Orientelux & Ghamzi. Thanks Orientelux for the compliments. I totally agree with you. Infact some people in the hall were shouting at the top of their voice. I think they dint understand that its not the volume but quality of speech that is more important. I practiced twice for speaking section by recording my own speech. Both the times I made my friend shout in the background about the same topic  So that training did help. Of course all these inputs I got from this forum where people shared their test experience.
Samo, my humble inputs : I heard Kaplan is pretty good for writing section. Few of my friends here used it. I personally have not seen it though. Some of my friends have not studied english. So they required grammar inputs which they said they were able to find in that book.
Coherence is very important in any writing. The way you organise the paragraphs is also equally important.
I formatted my style of writing. But yes be sure that its your own style. Do not copy. For me the basic skeleton was ready. All I had to do was fill in the points there in the exam based on the topic. It surely helped me a lot. I was at ease. There was no tension at all. I had all the time in the world to read it twice and even edit it. |

Hey Samo,
It may seem difficult...but as I said earlier spend time on it. When I say I had a ready format, it s something I framed in my mind ...not like a written document. Use reference books, online essay formats and make one for urself. Otherwise you will end up getting things by heart...that will not do any good...thts wht i have felt.... |

| You know, your score is not bad; IMO. I am currently preparing for the exam and found the material in Barron's TOEFL iBT so interesting and probably helpful. In short, they say that it is not the fluency (i.e., speaking a lot in short time while being not related) that you answer in but rather coherence and inclusion of the main points being asked in your answer. They also mention case-by-case notes for each question of the 6 parts. Be prepared for each question and expect what you are going to be asked. Best regards. |
