Hello,
Put the verbs into correct tense:
The poor bird.....(not fly) because it ....(have) a .....(break) wing.
In the second and third blanks I used the correct tense but in the first blank I thinked it must have been ''Could not have flied'' but the answer is ''would not''
Please explain it to me.
Many thanks.

.
'Would' is wrong. The sentence should read:

'The poor bird could/can not fly because it had/has a broken wing.'

No. Fly - flew - flown.

Good. You better revise your understanding of simple verb forms before this.

Your query "So is ''could not have flied'' acceptable?" is strange.

First learn the twenty basic forms in which verbs can be used , along with the past and past participle forms of verbs. That will help you write good English.
I prefer:
The bird could not fly because it had broken wings.
'Think' thought' and 'thought'.
'Fly' 'Flew' and 'flown'.
