. Same meaning, but they are used in different collocations: rookie (cop), apprentice (carpenter), novice (monk). . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

. 'The' is correct English. My use of 'same' without the article is casual-- my whole sentence is. In a proper book, it would read [They have the] Same meaning.... . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

| Thanks MM, so I can't use apprentice/ novice when I want to refer to a person at a corporate? But I heard many people are using it here though I'm not sure whether or not it's correct to use that!! |

. You can use any of them-- use whatever your co-workers use. But novices are usually people who cannot do things well, apprentices are helpers in a trade, and rookies are usually new military/ law enforcement staff or athletes. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |
