Topic 011: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Universities should give the same amount of money to their students’ sports activities as they give to their university libraries.

To each university, sports activities and libraries have different level. It depends on university’s characteristics. Some universities appreciate sports activities, but others are grateful for university libraries. Therefore, there is no base to ensure that universities should give the same amount of money to their students’ sport activities as give to their university libraries.

Sports University trains its students as athletes of several sports. To its students, sports activities are very important because they are subjects that these students have to study. Because of nature, these universities should give a huge amount of money to sporty equipments, for example, swimming pool, basketball yard, football yard, ping-pong table, gym obviously. This is important that these students have aid money for their hard practicing and an especial diet. Beside, these students need knowledge as well. They can read some books at rest time and search information online. Library must be the 2nd place in university budget, and sports activities are in the front row in the budget.

On the other hand, to normal universities that train students non-sport subjects as major purpose, library is very important. It provides student books and source documents. To major student, finding and buying several books to adapt subjects of a semester are unaffordable. As a result, they borrow books from library. Most of them have identification card having barcode in order to swipe whenever they borrow books. They spend a lot of time on reading book and practicing skills so there is a little time for sporty activities because studying is the main purpose of these students. In order to suitable for student’s need, these universities spend major budget on library and computers.

Briefly, according to my point of view, Sports University should give a huger amount of money to students’ sports activities than library; and others are opposite.
