What does the word "poor" mean to you when used to talk about a person's economic situation? Also, how is that word used to refer a person's economic situation in your country?

Hello,

To me, it expresses one's inability to meet his needs, e.g. food, taxes (electricity, water, etc.), apparel, other activities.

The word 'poor' varies in meaning from country to country. That is because the average standart of living is different everywhere. For example, the average wage in Bulgaria is, say 200 Euro. This is quite insufficient. Even many people, whose wage is ~500 Euro, 'suffer'. There are also pensioners who get no more than 50 Euro. I do not know how they manage to exist. Because, at such low numbers, it is about existence, not about living.
