Long time to see! . Well, my friend wants to apply for a schorlaship and he has to write an essay to tell about his circumstance as well as the reason why he applies. He need my help on translating his ideas from Vietnamese into English. And I did, of course. But I am not very sure that I did perfectly. So, today I need your help on correcting the essay.

Here it comes:

"Economy as well as politics, social activity is an important part of a country. A strong economy is the most important condition for development of that country. Therefore, nowadays, economical study subjects are attractive to everybody. There are many field of economy such as: Economic, Public Relation, Financing and Banking, Accounting and Auditing, MPA, Marketing….. A very large number of students wish to study in universities of economics. I do, too. At present, I am a freshman at Faculty of Economics of VNU HCMC, one of the famous universities of economics in the South of Vietnam, and my major is Accounting and Auditing. Everybody may ask: “What is the Accounting and Auditing like?” and “Why do I choose this major?”
First of all, I want to affirm that, my major is very exciting. However, there is wrong opinion that my major is inactive career because it involves only writing papers and calculation of money for a company. It is not really true. “Accounting” is the measurement, statement or provision of assurance about financial information primarily used by managers, investors, tax authorities and other makers to make resource allocation decisions within companies, organizations and public agencies. In accounting, financial information about a business is recorded, classified, summarized, interpreted and communicated. The accountants have to do a lot of things, not simply sit in a cool room and play games on the computer. In “Auditing”, an independent auditor examines an organization’s financial statement and accounting records in order to express an opinion as to the truth and fairness of the statement. The auditor must take responsibility for his reports. He must do his job carefully and honestly. So Accounting and Auditing are not only interesting but also challenging You have to improve skills and get experience from everybody to achieve success. That is one of reason for my choosing this career. Because being an active person, I usually want to try in active fields.
Another reason for my choosing this career comes from my father. He is an officer in local tax bureau. When I was young, I knew about his work which influenced to my choice very much. I received his guidance in economical topic so that this made my dream be that: “I will have steady job and this job has to involve economy”. However, the most influential reason to my decision is that my country has considerable changes and opportunities after Vietnam officially became 150th member of WTO. This creates advantages for development of the economy of Vietnam, as well as a good environment for people doing economical job."

This is just a part of the essay. I will post the rest later. I now get confused when using economic and economical. Please help me.

"When Vietnam is open to the world, the government offices and local companies have to change their methods to be able to compete and to adjust with new conditions. Stream of investments into Vietnam from foreign companies create more jobs for people here. This makes economical career more attractive everybody because it promises steady jobs with high salary. For reasons I’ve told, I didn’t enter The University of Natural Science HCMC to study Biology Technology which is also a “hot” major in Vietnam at present although my application was accepted here. I choose Accounting and Auditing major because I know what I think, I want and I wish more than anyone else… Success in a field comes to us only when we do it our best and with real interest and indulgence.
I was born and grew up in poor countryside in Kien Giang provine where economy is less development, and agricultural jobs are the main jobd of the local people. So, entering a university in HCMC is a pride as well as a success. When knowing I passed the university entrance examination, my family and my neighbors were all happy. However, a big problem comes to us is money for my study. Because I have to spend money on other things such as accommodation, living, ect, beside school fees. What is worse is that I study in HCMC where the cost of living is very high. We thought about this problem many times. Sometimes, it seemed that I couldn’t continue my study. Despite all, my father encouraged me to study. “Only your study will help us free from poority”, he said.
Thus, I continue my study feeling worry about financial problem of my family. Fortunately, I was accepted to live in the Dormitory of VNU HCMC where the cost is lower than outside. As you know, my future career requires a certain level of foreign language (English) and computing. It is required that I have to go to English centers and computing centers. Besides, up-to-date information in the internet is very helpful to me and I have to use internet in the internet cafeteria because I don’t have a computer. One way helpful for my study is to read foreign books about economics. But there are not many such books in the library and they are very expensive to buy. Above all, the big problem of me is cost of living. I was very happy and hopeful when I knew about this scholarship program. If I receive this scholarship, I can do many things for my study. It’ll help reduce financial difficulty that my family is encountering. With money from the scholarship, I can buy many reference books which needed for my study now and later. Also I can go to English language center to improve my English skill. I can buy a computer which I’m sure, will help me a lot of my study. As you see, the scholarship will help me and my family very much. I hope that, with my efforts, my application will be accepted.
I’m sure that, if I receive the scholarship, I’ll respect it and use it to make my dream come true.
