Hi Giang,in my opinion 'contest' means 'a competition or a situation in which two or more people or groups are competing with each other' and it has a larger meaning than the others.''Contention'',in some ways, means''disagreement''.As opposed to 'contention', ''rivalry'' means 'sharing common interests in a good enviroment competition'.
It's my own opinion.You can look them up at ''''''''longmandictionary''''''''''':http://pewebdic2.cw.idm.fr/.It is an E-E dictionary.
By the way,I am wondering where you are from(city and province) and which school are you going to.(Because you have the same name as my close friend and I want to make friend with you.)
