Hi all,

I have a small request-could you provide me with a link(links) that contains the information about the attitude of the English royal family to the wars in the world, particularly in Iraq, and what their social and political activities are. I have only small bits of information available Crying or Very sad

Thanks in advance!
Pamela

Pamela, I think the response you've gotten over this week may be indicative of what the royal family makes known about their attitude toward those matters.

Hi Pamela,

In the dim and distant past kings and queens in the UK were often personally involved in wars and disputes of various kinds. Today and certainly in the last century they do not express personal views on conflicts in which British troops are involved, at least not in public. Their role in such a situation today is to arrange for younger members to visit theatres of war with a view to boosting morale among the military.

Hi Pamela,

Prince William went to fight in Afghanistan, so arguing that the royal family conveys a hostile attitude towards matters of war seems inappropriate. The royals are the peak of British conservative society, and conservatives don't usually hold back when it comes to being supportive of the troops. Imagine Prince Charles saying “We think the troops should retreat from foreign soil since British life may be lost!” Such a statement would cause more than just a facile fully-fledged scandal, because a soldier should gladly dispose of his life for king (or queen) and country.
