Please help me with this.

You can go for ABC encoding, but that will make the text longer. You can go for XYZ encoding as instead.

I sense something is weird with the usage of instead. Should as be there in front of it?

Hi Daemon

I agree that 'as' is weird. It should be omitted. Your two sentences could also be joined with the word 'or'.

Do we need to add the word "the" before ABC encoding and XYZ encoding?
You can go for the ABC encoding, but that will make the text longer. You can go for the XYZ encoding instead

I'd thought the same too. But it was written by an English guy. If it was a non-native speaker, I wouldn't have thought much about it.
