What does this phrase mean: "my proud"? #1 (permalink) Tue Feb 22, 2005 18:19 pm   What does this phrase mean: "my proud"?

An excerpt from the lyrics of a song by REM reads..........

"It's easier to leave than to be left behind, leaving was never my proud"

How do you translate the word "proud" on that sentence ?
Is it a noun ? Shouldn't it be "pride" ?
I couldn't find proud as a noun in the dictionary.

Thank you..

Hi,

You are right, that line in the lyrics is a bit strange indeed because as you pointed out, proud is an adjective.
I'm sure that real REM fans will be able to shed some light on this issue or maybe we should ask Michael Stipe directly?
