Hi,

We usually use any-words in interrogatives and negatives. But in this interrogative, "Are you seeing someone now?" we use someone, instead of anyone. Are you dating someone?/Are you going out with someone? All same. Why is that? Please help me!

Thank you in advance,
sweetpumpkin

Hi Sweetpumpkin

The word 'anyone' could also be used in your sentences.

Using the word 'someone' instead of 'anyone' suggests that the speaker thinks an affirmative answer is likely.
