Sentence correction: I feel sad that we have a stupid in our family member Thu May 08, 2008 9:23 am  Sentence correction: I feel sad that we have a stupid in our family member

Dear English gurus,

Recently one of my family member did a stupid thing and I want to express my idea as follows:

"I feel sad that we have a stupid in our family member.", I feel sad that we have a stupid among our family members." or "I feel sad that we have a stupid in our family chain."

Please help me select which one is appropriate or proofread my sentence to make it sensible.

Regards,

Alex

Hi,

You can't really use 'stupid' on its own and make it into a noun. It has to be a stupid person/man/boy/child and so on. Perhaps you could use 'fool'.

Acceptable except for 'stupid' on its own and if you say simply 'in our family' on its own.
