Hi,

Would you be so kind to tell me if it's a correct sentence?

I like when I have the last word.

OR I have to say:

I like having the last word.

thanks

.
The first one is casual English, but you can say it. Or "I like it when I have the last word."

1. I like when I have the last word.
2. I like it when I have the last word.
3. I like having the last word.
4. I like to have the last word.

In BrE, #1 would sound unusual to me – I would probably assume it was informal AmE.

#2 would sound normal.

#3 would describe the pleasure of the process of having the last word.

#4 would describe a general principle.

The omission of the word 'it' makes that sentence sound casual to me, too.
