What does "focus in on" mean here?

The use of both prepositions ("focus in on") suggests "focus more closely on" or "focus on the details of something".

Bring the image/object gradually into focus (focus in) and that direct focus on/upon a the thing.

I think there's a similar expression: "to home in on"

The missile is homing in on the enemy's base
