Education has occupied a pivotal position in societies throughout human history. In recent decades, hot debates over teaching methodologies have occured among educator circles. A number of opinions maintain that homework given to learners on a daily basis is unnecessary. Nevertheless, I am personally convinced that the assignment of homework is a must.

Through home assignment, students are able to learn accountability. Whenever being given homework, learners are supposed to make the greatest efforts to complete the assignment. Failure to fulfill this responsibility is certain to result in corresponding punishment from teachers. Thus, students become aware that they themselves are compelled to be accountable for certain tasks. With this self-discipline, upon growing up, young learners would definitely become responsible citizens who respect law, care for old parents or pay due attention to fledgling children. Indeed, homework proves to be an effective instrument to raise the awareness of young learners about accountability.

Exercises assigned to students to complete at home is an effective measure to help these young people grasp knowledge taught at school. Each day of school attendance, learners are supposed to listen to various lessons on an array of subjects. Therefore, demanding these infant students to immediately grasp what is taught within a few periods in classes is nearly impossible. Besides, at young ages, educatees are usually distracted by a variety of recreational activities such as sports, computer games etc., the expectation that when going home, these students would spontaneously review knowledge presented at educational institutions is almost impractical. Hence, compulsory assignments given by teachers is the most effective tool to compel young students to focus on studying at home to absorb lessons at school.

In conclusion, daily home assignment not only hones students’ self-discipline but also boost their academic performance at school. Therefore, almost all educators are strongly recommended to adopt this teaching methodology.
