Hello Torsten,

Thank you so much for your lessons. The following are the sentences I created using the possessive adjective.

My name is Julie am a student studying petroleum engineering and at the same time working. I work for an international company a non-governmental organization. Our boss is a man from Lagos, Nigeria. Our clients are pleased with the services we render and we value their patronage.

Below, are some homophones I practiced.

“See” and “Sea”
“Weak” and “week”
“Which” and “wish”
“Worm” and “warm”
“Wait” and “weight”
“Made” and “maid”
“Cash” and “catch”
“Hat” and “heart”
“Day” and “they”
“Two” and “too”
“Their” “there” “dear”
“No” and “Know”

On my last English test, I got all the questions right on my first attempt.

Thanks
Julie

Hello Torsten,

Thanks for your reply. I will like to know why the phrase doesn’t sound very natural.
I will say it differently in two ways whichever is ok please let me know.

(1) They all have different social /career affiliations
(2) They come from all works of life

Hi Julie,

I think the best phrase is "they come from all walks of life."
Regards,
Torsten

Hi Sweta,

Many thanks for your message. I'm very glad you like the email English. As for the TOEFL, what exactly would you like to know?
Regards,
Torsten
PS: Please remember the words "u" and "n" don't exist in English. Good spelling habits are vital if you want to score high marks on the TOEFL exam.

Hi Waala,

8 out of 10 correct on the first attempt is pretty good. Now please try this one and let me know your score.

Thanks,
Torsten

Hi Torstern,
Even though these tests were not for me, I tried them. I had 6 out of 10 at the first one ( shame on me!!!!) and 10 out of 10 at the second one. What do you think of these marks and could you please help me to define my English level? Thanks in advance.
