hey,
how r you? i don't know, but i did'nt like the test about nd and finish, i can put them in different sentences but i don't know the difference exactly or as a rule. my score was 7 correct questions out of 10... there was a question that i don't know wht it is answered like that, it was : You could tell the time by him because he always finished work at exactly the same time every day. why we used finished instead of finishes, i thought it is present simple tense but i was wrong... waiting for your reply

Hi Walaa,

Many thanks for your feedback. It's no big deal if you get some questions wrong on your first attempt -- simply take test again until you get all the questions right. The sentence you are talking about describes a situation in the past so that's why the verb is in the simple past and not the simple present. For more information on that particular question, please click here.

As you can see, it's better if you ask your test questions by using the "Click here for Explanation" link above the question.

Regards,
Torsten

Hello everybody, how are you doing? I have just listened to Sue's introduction and, let me to say that I felt very happy because, I could understand more less the 80% of the content. I have been following the course for beginners and I find it very interesting, moreover I am in a course in my country and I have been going very well.

Please I will be very grateful if somebody corrects me the errors.

Hi Ivan,

I've made some changes and used CAPITAL letters to show the corrections:

Hello everybody. How are you doing? I have just listened TO Sue'S introduction and I HAVE to say that I felt very happy because I could understand more OR less 80% of the content. I have been following the course for beginners and I find it very interesting. Moreover I am ON a course in my country and I have been DOING very well.

I WOULD be very grateful if somebody COULD correct MY errors.

BEST WISHES

Well done. Keep up the good work.

Hy Alan!

When we use "at" and when we use "on" next to the word course? Or we use only one of them?
on course
but
at classes

It's a bit difficult the use of prepositions.

Hy Alan!

Could you explain me the use of the word "yet"?

For example why is correct this:

Have the rain stopped yet?
and not
Haven't the rain stopped yet?

Are the two sentences equal? :

Have the rain sopped yet?
and
Haven't stopped the rain?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Julia,

I would say 'on a course' suggesting that you're attending a course. 'At the class' suggests where the class took place.as in: I arrived late at the class and am on the course for intermediate students.

Hi again,

'Yet' suggests up till now/this moment. Has the rain stopped yet? Hasn't the rain stopped yet. Remember 'rain' is singular. You use 'yet' in negative/interrogative sentences where you want to stress the idea of even up till now. The rain hasn't stopped yet suggests it hasn't stopped and I wish it would stop.
