Dear Mr. Daerr,

I have made the end vs. finish test 3 times and my best result is 6/10 Sad
I still can't realize difference between these two verbs.
Usually I understand grammatical topics fast but now is not this way.

Best regards,
Yonko

Hi Yonko,

Try this: You have finished the test - you have completed it.

Your lesson has ended - it's not going on any longer.

Incidentally you would say: I have done the test.

Alan

Hi Yonko,

In addition to Alan's explanation I'd like to point out that "to make the test" means to "create the test". Alan has made the test and you have taken or done the test.

Let me know what you think.
Благодаря,
Torsten

questions Wed Sep 03, 2008 12:03 pm  questions

Dear Torsten,
I've just heard from Sue about closed and open questions. It's interesting.
I've been learning 2 foreign languages, English and French. I can use English better than French, because I had got a course of English at the university for 4 years. However, my skills of speaking and listening are now not good yet. So, I take part in the forum with the hope of improving my English, expecially my speaking and listening skills.
For French, I began 3 months ago. I can now use a little. (How ashamed!)

How we can improve our english Wed Sep 03, 2008 12:23 pm  How we can improve our english

Good afternoon everyone,

I hope everything is ok around you. As per your last lesson # 11 which you have sent to me on Wednesday. How can we learn the better English most effectively?

I think different people have a different ways about this matter. I think forum is the best way to improve the writing skills. It gives us an excellent opportunity to practice personal for improving the writing skills and helps us to get better result with in the short time period.
Some people like chatting and some people like e-mail based newsletters.
We should follow the different ways for improving the English like reading newspapers, watching movie, as well as news channels. We can improve our English day by day if we give the proper time constantly. We can get better result.
Listing is also vital role to improving the English language.
As you already mentioned The 30/30 Challenge is also a great way to get the required result.

please correct my e-mail and reply

Regards

Dear S.A.Khan,

Many thanks for sharing your ideas and experiences with us. I absolutely agree with you -- different people use different learning methods because they have different learning habits.

What about you, what are your favourite resources and learning activities?

Hi Chaumai,

I'm great what about? Thanks a lot for letting me know about your test results. Can you please tell me how often you have tried the test? Also, you might want to start using a spell checker to avoid typos such as "tryed" instead of "tried".

Let me know what you think and I can tell you how to install an excellent spell checker for free.

Regards,
Torsten

Hi Chau,

The first step for you is to download and install Firefox -- a free Internet browser.

Once you have Firefox, you can add the free spell checker which works perfectly on our forum.

Good luck,
Torsten
PS: Please make sure you download and install the English language version of Firefox.

Many thanks Thu Sep 04, 2008 11:15 am  Many thanks

Dear Torsten,
Many thanks you are giving the spare time in your busy schedule and check all my e-mail. As far as my concern I have already many visits in different sites like Pearson Brown, Guide to Grammar & Writing, About.com, Effective writing, and English Language Writing skills. White Smoke etc. however I strongly believed that www.english-test.net is the best site for learning and understanding especially in symbol of forum. Now-a-days I am fully concentrating exercise as well as your lesson.
I am also trying to watch the English movie and talk shows in extra time and read the newspapers. However, due to office business and month of Ramzan I could not work properly. That is the reason I am not satisfied to my performance.

I think most of the important thing is the time if you are not giving the proper time for improving the skills you can not get the proper result and second important thing you should be motivated to get your goal. You cannot change your past but if you are motivated and energetic you can change your future.

Regards,
S.A Khan
