Hello, everyone! I'm Darius from the Lithuania.

I,m very grateful for receiving English course. I've just finished my English lesson number 3 and I've got some problems clarifying Sue's duties at work. What does it mean "to handle the day to day administration for area manager"? In addition to that listeting to Sue's daily job activities I've noticed some contradictions. Sue says that she enjoys the personal contact with her clients. But later she says that all of her corporate clients are handled by head office so companies workers do not see any of them. May be I'm wrong and do not understand the text but how you can enjoy contact with your client's if you can not see them. Help me about this.

Best regards,
Darius

hi torsten

thanks for sending the third edition and it was very interesting .. you rightly said that you need to listen and watch in English that way you can improve your English i must say one more thing that it needs lots of practice and patience it won't come in a hurry you have to give your best if you maintain to do all this exercises like watching and listening then I'm very much certain that you will be able to achieve .. i guess you have to maintain it for the entire life . i have faced this problem couple of years back i took a part in one of inlingua centers and i did couple 0f courses from there and i did very well i also took a part in Gd and got 2nd prize that boosted my confidence and after that i started speaking fluently. I also use to watch TV ,radio and sports in english i use to spend 3 to 4 hours in a day after that i use to speak well but after that i left the practice now I'm not able to recall some words which i learned it, now I'm bit hesitant to speak up so that's why i wrote it that it needs lot of practice and hard work..ESL is the right platform to learn and share ...all credit goes to the ESL team cheer up guyz

Good morning Michael, welcome to our forum. Can you please tell me what you exactly you mean by 'I can't access your listening exercises'? What happens when you click on the red play button? What operating system do you use and can you hear/replay other audio files?

Many thanks,
Torsten

hello everybody
my name is Nermin and i'm from Egypt, i got married 2 years ago and i have one son, now i'm ahousewife and i'm very interested in learning languages and improve my english.
this is my first time to write in the forum and i would like to say that i appreciate all your effort to make such a successful site for learning and testing english and i found it very useful so that i will make 2 suggestions:
first: why don't you make a placement test first before get started in the course to determine the level the student should started with and to know how good or bad our english and the weaknesses points?
second: i suggest to make the listening lessons by 2 different accents (English and American) and the student shall choose the suitable accent for him.
i'm waiting for your reply and the next lesson.

I've got to have 4 e-mail from you and I am very happy because I feel better fast in the language, thank you very much for giving of your time .I've completed that test , it was dead easy, I received a 9-10.
I 've got 1 more question: can you explain the difference between looking forward, and look forward, when do we use each of them.?someone say i look forward to hear from you, and others say i'm looking forward to hear from you.?
Thank you in advance.

Hi Mr.Torsten,
As I was listening to the audio, there were some words or phrase of words that confused me with the way they've been used in the sentences.I went to the transcript of the recording to read and check them.I have some questions and kindly correct me if I'm wrong. In this sentence,'My workplace is very close by ....'I would prefer;'My work place is near by....'for this sentence;'It's good exercise';I will go like this;'It's a good exercise...'in the transcript,it's written like this;'There are ten people in our office...' but after reading it I found out that there were eleven people, and the sentence should go like this;'There are eleven people in our office, seven financial advisors,a customer manager,a company trainer,a coach and our area manager...' the next one is;'My job is to handle the day to day administration for my area manager who has ten offices to run...' for me is like this,'My job is to handle the day to day administration of the area manager who has ten offices to run..' i hope you wont get tired reading these,,,next is;' I also help develop training needs analysis for our coach...'again for me is,'I also help develop training courses to be analyzed by our coach....'or 'I also help develop staff training for analysis and I devise informational spreadsheets..' lastly,'. I enjoy the personal contact with them as they come form all walks of life and are all ages.' for this sentence I would prefer like this,'I enjoy the personal contact with them as they are from all walks of life and come of age...'i hope to hear from you Mr.Torsten,,bye for now.
