My name is Thida. I live in Australia. I have been here for 12 year now. My native country is Burma which is located in South East Asia.

My city is Melbourne. The weather is nice and cold. It is quiet place too.

Although I enjoyed living here, I do miss home a lot. I finished Diploma in Information Technology (Software Development). I like to study which can keep up my knowledge. I want to improve my English especially in writing. I am going to study nursing in a few week time.

I didn't think there was a difference between "finish" and "end" (or I would say I thought there was a very slight difference berween the 2 words). But today I have realised that there's much more difference. As a result, I've got 7 questions right. Iwould never think this could happen to me!

I have just finished my test end vs. finish. I got nine of them right.The mistake is in the following question. Actually I was looking for the word finishes but since it was not there I just filled with finish. Can the word finishes be used in this case as he always does the same thing?

You could tell the time by him because he always ......... work at exactly the same time every day.

(b) ended
(c) finish
(d) finished

Many thanks for your message. I'm glad to hear you finished your finish/end test. As for your question, since the sentence is in the simple past, 'finished' is more appropriate. If you want more information, please read this.

My name is Marievic and I work for Trading Company as a secretary/receptionist. Our boss or the owner of the company is a Jordanian national. Our company is dealing import/export in heavy equipment. I work for 8 hours starts from 9'oclock in the morning to 1:30 in the afternoon and 4:30 in the afternoon to 8'oclock in the evening for 6 regular days(Saturday to Thursday). My house is very near in the office since the traffic is number one problem here in the uae.

I finished my test (end vs. finish).I got 7 out of 10 correctly. But still confusing.

I have also just finished the listening practise about Sue's job. I have had some difficulties in the comprehension of the third part, your third question, but after reading the transcript of the recording everything is clear now.
