Hi,

Is it my imagination or does anyone else agree that acerbity is rampant nowadays on the forums with individuals slagging each other off for their own benefit rather than concentrating on giving straight answers to straight questions? All so different from 2003!

Of course you're right, Alan. I think this is due to obvious limitations of the media itself. You don't see or hear the person you debate with - ever. Having said that, people who have problems communicating with others in 'real life' tend to use internet forums to scour their frustrated ego channels by trying to reflect their vile and bitter personality issues on others. This then leads to name calling, ridiculing people's names, places of origin or other forms of trite retort.

But it's also interesting to see how those sociopaths react. I'm pretty sure that one of them won't be able to resist proving my little theory.

Wow, you've got it bad, haven't you?

You do that. Does that make you a sociopath?

Wonderful how threads such as this one bring out the "it wasn't me" or "he/she started it" crowd.

Nice collection:

Hi Molly,

On the off chance that I should have hurt your feelings, please accept my profuse apologies.

I was lead astray by random comments such as

I imagined your roots were in Muff, Ralf. Seems fitting.

You surely meant no harm, I understand.

And now I also understand your Achilles tendon reflex.

If Sani Abacha couldn't hurt my feelings, you've got little chance of doing so, Walf. Sleep well, as I will. G'nite!

Would this be an example of the above?

I think this tendency is not confined just to this webpage,
you may see it as general feature of new shaping of internet forums.

Good point. I think, as Ralf said, it is the anonymity that makes people more forthright and personal in their comments. I wonder how sparring protagonists on a forum would behave if they met face to face. There is a similarity in the way people shout at each other from the protection of a car if one or other makes an error in driving. The most vociferous are usually those in 'real' life who wouldn't say boo to a goose.

But Ralf (I am his last friend) himself had gone out of shadow and in full light of his person was instigating many "attacks".(on innocent people mostly)
Persons like Pamela,Tamara, (and Molly of course),Mr Perfecto or many others are more incognito and they behave themselves very cultural and modest.
If somebody likes conflicts it would not stop him to act without coverage, lack of direct responsibility or being at risk to get crushing punishment by precise critic.
People were fighting long ago before the word internet was know, sometimes under concealed dress but many times openly for pure pleasure.
Evil spirits of war and ghousts of domination are here not more out of control as in our daily life.

Jan

I would appreciate very much if you could point out any grammatical mistakes.

Hi Jan,

Your post indicates both hurt and grief. Do you feel victimized because of this thread?

My post describes the situation that people who like aggresion would often be aggressive.
Is my English so much out of your standards that you could not read in text?
