Hi,

Today I needed to say that a computer program's settings were not right, they'd become wrong due to an unknown reason. How can I say it?
Can I say that The settings had been deranged/disturbed over the time and I needed to set them right ?

Deranged generally means mentally ill and disturbed means affected by external (often malignant) factors. I suggest:

The settings had gone off/shifted/changed over time and I needed to set them right.
