Something can lead to or result in so "lead to" is the correct answer here.

'Lead to' and 'result in' are typical collocations.
Look at the definitions for the verb 'lead' here:
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=lead&r=66
The third definition seems most appropriate to me in this case.
