Putting the "blame" on the speaker is not fair or correct.

Did I do that? or did you misunderstand my point

and is making a statement assigning blame?

There can often be a lack of clarity in communication, however we have to meet on common ground, donīt you think.

What do the quotes here mean to you?

don't "blame" the listener

Indeed. I was very surprised by Jamie's comments about our German friend.

I doubt it's just that. There's also: environmental interference, lack of familiarity with the subject, tiredness, difference in accents, etc. Putting the "blame" on the speaker is not fair or correct.

It's the same here. If one sometimes questions the meaning of a native-speaker's comments, many speakers blame the reader for not understanding.

Who is 'one' and who is 'the reader' in verbal communication?

And why do you doubt that listeners get can get lazy or show a lack of concentration?

Where did I say I doubted that?

"One" is many of us. Do you wish to be excluded from that "one" label? "Reader" is a name sometimes given to those who read text, images, the spoken, word, a dark sky, etc. Is it new to you in such contexts?

Indeed, 'one' is many of us.. Thought you were talking about learners, though. But I'm sure you can bend a bough of anything.

You make real learners look very small. One could think you're using your Molly mask to make native speakers look small, too.

What is the function of "just" here, Ralf?

As for the rest of your post: is it really suitable for a moderator to behave in that way? What is it that you hope to gain from such attacks?

Ralf, you've been given the position of moderator, now behave as one. Or at least behave as an adult.

So, let's keep bad manners away from learners. Come out and play!

Ralf, you need a holiday. Did you check out just how many off-topic, bad mannered posts MrP made in this thread? No? Why not?
