What are your favorite TV shows? #1 (permalink) Sun Mar 06, 2005 13:18 pm   What are your favorite TV shows?

Hi, everybody!
I have some questions for you:

Is there a TV show you watch regularly?
Or is there a show in your country that everybody watches, something representative for your culture?
Or don't you watch TV at all? If so, why?

I don`t watch TV at all for I don`t find Russian TV attractive. Thoygh we have a lot of shows which are popular among all the people!!! For example we have "You` a super model". Girls "fight" for a few months for a chance to become a super model and to earn a lot of money. We also have "House" and now "House-2. Love". Some boys and girls "build" their love and the audience chooses the best. And another one popular "The Last hero". Our pop stars, TV stars and many others are sent to an island, divided there in two groups and live there for few months without any food, clothes and other necessary things... The eat-what they find...Terrific and really extremally!!! But others like them very much!!! We have a lot of other shows, but I just don`t know them at all...

I don't watch TV at all. Ok, maybe not at all but it's really sporadic. Now i prefer reading a good book to watching TV.
But i have some programmes i like or liked to watch. First is my beloved sitcome: Friends. I really laughed my as//s off not once watching them;) Next: Married with children (Al Bundy;) - wow this guy has more bad luck than me:d

What's up sunny? cool question maybe that's common between you and me.
In my opinion watching tv is the nicest way to learn English there is not a series I haven't watch at least once.
Like many people I used to spend time enjoying the wittiness of Joey in friends or the beautiful Rachel. The nonsenses of Al bundy which make us laugh to the limit.
I have learnt a lot from series like Without a trace (FbI lingo), more recently Cold case which takes place in Philadelphia with a peculiar accent and also a lot of slangs. I recommend Gilmore girls if you want to tune in your ear, based on a single mother who happens to have the cleverest daughter of all at her early seventeen (they speak what I think is SAE).
One of my favorite nowadays is Smallvile, the story of how clark kent grew up in farm with such surrogate parents (souther English accent and many phasal verbs) a must see.
One not to miss is "Charm" gosh what some girls, I felt in love with Alyssa Milano's role there, not to mention her wardrobe. there are others like LA law, Third watch, ER,City confidential, Bosto public,Buffy the vampire, and so on.
Most of these series have closed captioning a good help to read in case you don't follow what people say, in this regard
I like to do something that has been of great help for me which is taping said series with the caption on, once recorded you can play it as many times as you want with or without the captioning and also view it with the subtitules in your language that's the beauty of cable, don't you think?
But it's not only Warner channel, Sony, fox,Tnt but there is also history channel, Animal planet, BBC,CNN all of which you can take the most out of it.
