I have some trouble when rewriting this sentence:
-Simon had not expected that he would feel so weak after the operation.
=>The operation left..................................................................
My answer:" The operation left Simon an unexpected weakness"
Answer key: " The operation left Simon FEELING weaker than he had expected"
I have not ever known the structure:To leave BD V-ING.
Can you explain to me?

Interesting question!

I feel your answer is still possible to mean "As a result of the operation Simon became unexpectedly week" but the original sentence contains the word 'feel'. Without omitting it, the answer key suggests "As a result of the operation Simon felt weaker than he had expected", which gives a better accordance.

Hi,

'Left me feeling' is really no different from other constructions like: We saw them going home/I heard her singing/We found them eating our food and so on. Your sentence:
Quote:
The operation left Simon FEELING weaker than he had expected
can be rewritten as: The operation resulted in Simon feeling ....
