English constructions - Resources needed Tue Jul 01, 2008 0:52 am  English constructions - Resources needed

Hello,

How I wish I had my childhood back! (I copied this)

Not to mention how many people are in need (I made this one up - so it is not foolproof)

Are there materials (books, articles, etc) taking up these kinds of English constructions?

Also what is the field of English studies that these constructions belong to? is it rhetoric? it is not purely grammar nor is it purely phrasal verbs nor cliches.

Help is much appreciated,

-Kilani

P.S this question has been asked in another forum. I am very excited to get an answer to it.

They belong partly to syntax and partly to discourse analysis.
