Hello Sue, This is my answer for session 2. Sue works for a large financial company. She starts work at 8:45 and finished about 5:15. She enjoys the personal contact.
Tell the truth, I don't understan sentence : " I enyoy the personal contact with them as they come form all walks of life and are all ages " . What does it mean? Can you explain it clearly?.
Thanks. |

Dear Sir,
It is always a pleasure reading your English lessons. In fact, I really appreciate your approach: not knowing exactly the learner's level, you carefully avoid "brutalizing" him or her with knowledge.
In your previous mail, you were interested in knowing the style I prefer. Well, I prefer formal style to any other.
As for the forum, I am already a member. My last participation was to know the real difference between ERROR and MISTAKE. I cannot really say I was not satisfied by the answer I received, for it is already a satisfaction having one's question answered! However your own answer to that question will be welcome.
Looking forward to hearing from you, I remain
Yours faithfully |

Hello, my dear Alan!
I'm Ludovic from the Central African Republic, a French spoken country! I'm very interesting in the messages you have sent to me. I guess that variety is the spice of the like. So, sometimes, it's good to use a plain language, especially with ones close friends. But, I guess that using figurative language the our daily conversation is very very good! Best regards! |

Dear Alan Townend,
Thank you very much for so many beautiful pieces of writing to me. I am somewhat of a teacher of English at a secondary school in a poor country in the Far East. I graduated more than 20 years ago when there was too little to teach (for our teachers) and to learn (for us). I have been stuffing myself with whatever I have been able to find, as long as it is in English. I have never had a chance to be in any English speaking countries and so few opportunities to "make foreigners understand me" and they were too kind to give their criticism of my English.
That's why I would very much like you to send me as much as you can with your writings, questions papers etc, if you can. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best regards, Dinh Cam |
