Hello Mr, Alan Townend, Very Happy
Surprised Nice to meet you. Thank you for your strong lecture. I almost can see your greatness between the lines.
In my Arabic language we say:( khayroo elkalami ma kalla wa dalla) which means: The best talk is saying few words with a big meaning.
So, talking a lot using too much explanations is a waste of time. Moreover, as my language says, it is a lack of wisdom . Yes, I believe someone who takes hours trying to send a simple message , is somehow mad.
From my part, I prefere going directly to the point but ,at the same time, I admire playing with words.
My best regards,
Souad. Wink

Plain Speaking. figuratively speaking #122 (permalink) Sun Jul 06, 2008 6:28 am   Plain Speaking. figuratively speaking

Dear and respectable teacher,

I am very happy to have a teacher like you who sends me a lot of instructive and meaninggul materials on learning English. Millions thanks to your for your kind and nice cooperation and help.

I really liked your materials this time, the vocabularies were excellent and simile phrases were of great value, I really loved this time.

I have tought English for many years, but I still feel like shortage in my English communication. I know all the basic grammaers teneses, active voice and passive voice, direct and indirect speeches and the advervial clauses, but i want to learn the basics and literature of English, such as todays examples you had provided that how we can use some words to mean something while the literal meaning of those words are something esle exm Breezing Into a Room.... etc

than you a lot,

your's truly

I'm from Iran and I love learning English and I'm sure you and your friends can help me to learn English.

Hello #126 (permalink) Sun Jul 06, 2008 12:32 pm   Hello

Dear Alan Townend,

It is my first email to you. I am a 25 year old girl from Kabul Afghanistan.

I am glad that I joined this course, I like the lesson about the style, but I think we never can use the seem style of talking. because our style will change according to the different situations and environment.

I love to use very good and new vocabulary but I can not because I can not keep the new vocabulary in my mind, and also my big problem is spelling.
I have lots of spelling mistake.

how I can solve these issues.
Thanks Crying or Very sad

Hello Alan Townend!
I want to thank you very much for your interest in teaching English to everybody, I am a English student, I was born in Mexico, then my language is Spanish, I love English Language but sometimes is very difficult, I like refined and plain language, because I want to be versatile depending on the situation. I am looking forward to master this English language (writing, speaking and reading). this is my first time that I write an email in english so I apologize if is something wrong about it.
