Hi!
I'm a private English teacher and I know that even teachers have to improve their technics in order to be more practical so i appreciate so much the Forum. I like all the ways of communication and I think it depends on the circumstances. When I translated some juridical documents I had to be more concise, so calling a spade a spade. In Rumanian this means 'put the point on the i' or 'call the thigs using their names'. I also like using metopha and similes at the lessons and when communicating with friends. I think this make us to draw closer to each other and to be more aproachable for new people because we can know a person better by means of conversation.
Thanks a lot for such interesting materials
Caterina

Hello,

I know I'm writing so late (it's been ages since I've written !) but I don't prefer beating around the bush nor anything that just comes to mind, I like my conversation to be understandable to my listeners and choose my words carefully so it's not a mess ...... I do love using simile and metaphor and figurative speech in general but not Spoonerism .....

Anyways thanks for the lesson it was wonderful .....

Regards,
Ms.Unique

Hi Alan,

Enlightening article. I use simple plain english using active voice and getting rid of the unnecessary words. I also avoid using negative like do not, can not, will not etc. That makes the writing more understandable and direct! But I am here to learn from you as well. Any further advice, I will appreciate.
