Hi,

How would you describe your talking style? I mean, are you a person who likes to beat about the bush or you would consider yourself a "Jack Blunt"? Alan's latest newsletter is called Figuratively Speaking and I'd really like know if you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Let's hear your opinions.
Many thanks,
Torsten

Dear IA,

Many thanks for your positive feedback regarding Alan's essay. Yes, of course you can read even more articles and essays about the English language.

If you like, you can also tell us more about your work as an English teacher. How many students are there in your classes and kind of materials do you use?

Talk to you soon,
Torsten

Dear Alan Townend,

I am writing to thank for your interesting articles.
I am Vietnamese. I am a learner of English, but it is difficult for me to speak English fluently because Vietnam is not an English speaking environment. Could you tell me what ways to improve my English speaking.

I look forwards to hearing from you.

Yours sincerely,

Hi Dear Alan! It is great read your task. Indeed, it helps me to improve my English level. Actually, I do prefer the figurative language, but all depends on the purpose and the moment that I am speaking to. Because, sometimes all you need is to give a quick answer and carry on.
Sincerely, Dino.

Dear Alan Townend,
I think that the style of communication is depend on the situation. Sometimes I prefer plain speaking without Metaphorical statements with my friends, but I think that these ones are nice and speaking using these statements make English language more beautiful. I always learn my pupils figuratively speaking. I am a private teacher, this year I have 9 pupils. I also work at the hotel, we often have foreign guests, almost everyone speaks english. And I also want to learn hotel terminology, conversations.
Best regards Ia

Referring to the way of my preferable communication, it depends on what kind of conversation that is going on. If it is in an academic conference or some formal place, I prefer to be straightforward. Sure, sometimes I also use something like metopha to make my theory more easily be understood. Referring to colloquial talk which is informal, I'd like to be more casual and figurative so that I'm not gonna be a "freak" anyway :)
