I must admit I like the expression another bite at the banana but unfortunately it doesn't exist as far as I know. The cherry expression means take another chance/make another attempt.

Hi Gheon,

You're absolutely right. The expression is also 'have a second bite at the cherry'. The point is that the cherry is so small that the chances of being able to take another bite are rare.
