Meaning of Residual Mon Jul 07, 2008 15:53 pm  Meaning of Residual

Test: TOEIC/W27
Select Word By Meaning

adj. enduring; lasting; continuing; leftover; remaining

(a) persistent
(b) intensive
(c) severe
(d) residual

Corerct answer is "residual"

I don't think the first three words (enduring, lasting, continuing) mean "residual". Their meaning should be close to "persistent" instead.

Please help to give further explanation.

Thanks!

I think persistent is a good choice too.

Lasting or continuing does apply to residual, especially when paired with "earnings."
