Hello, there! Can you guys explain to me how to use Ing after To, like in the following sentences: We were reduced to telling the truth, I do not object to writing it down again, and it is equivalent to starting over? Many thanks ahead of time for answering me. Have a good one.

This is the preposition "to" followed by a gerund. Prepositions need to be followed by some kind of noun, so when you need the meaning of a verb, you have to use the gerund form, which serves the purpose of a noun.

It's the same as when you'd say, "They got out of trouble by telling the truth." "He remembered it without writing it down."

"To" is a preposition just the same was "by" and "with".
