that formula has yet to be dialed in? #1 (permalink) Mon Jul 07, 2008 22:48 pm   that formula has yet to be dialed in?

Hi,

Can "to dial in" have another meaning than to make a phone call? I'm asking because I think on an audio book I heard the speaker say "that formula has yet to be dialed in". He is talking about a system for language learners that hasn't been developed yet.

Many thanks,
Torsten

I think that's an eccentric use of the expression, Torsten. It must come from the image of a machine with dials on it, rather than from a telephone.
