Hi Torsten, thank you for your response.

You will find meat and sausages at the butcher's next door.

I am supposed to buy meat from a butcher's store and never buy at a a baker's store. Now I know I got confused by 'next door' in this sentence. Why is it not at the butcher's own store? Can you still buy meat and sausages at the next door if the butcher's next door is a baker's store or a post cards store?

Have a great day!

Hi Ray,

The possessive "s" in butcher's refers to the "butcher's store". In other words, "the butcher's" is short for "the butcher's store".

Hope this makes sense.
Thanks,
Torsten

Hi Torsten,

Thanks a lot. Now it is clear to me.

The sentence in full can be:

You will find meat and sausages at the butcher's [store]. The butcher's [store] is next door.
