TOEFL® essay: People attend college or university for many different reasons

here are my two essays. can you please give some comments and feedback to improve my writing for the toefl iBT?

People attend college or university for many different reasons (for example, new experiences, career preparation, increased knowledge). Why do you think people attend college or university? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

There are many choices for student after graduating from high school. They can stay at home or go straight to work or study further. Most of them choose to attend college or university. Their reasons, however, vary from person to person. One person may want to take part in university courses because of his/her desire to get new experiences or more knowledge, while another may want to do so due to his need for carrer preparation. In my opinion, the most common reason for students to attend postsecondary is to prepare for their career in the future both academically and socially.

First of all, schools are surely the place to provide students with lessons and experiments in a variety of subjects. By studying here, students hope to collect the knowledge they consider to be necessary for their jobs that they can get nowhere in this world. For example, a youngster aims to become a physician. He can study at home with the instruction of a tutor. However, he cannot have sufficient laboratory. Therefore, his education is not complete and he really need to attend a university or college.

Secondly, a student can never obtain the sociability needed if he/she just stay at his/her room all day. That’s another reason why people attend a college or university: to get social preparation. In the academic environment, students need to communicate with professors and friends, which means they gather the daily skills required for their work and life after leaving schools.

For these two pursposes, more and more students go to university to achieve a high-level education academicaly and socially, which is indispensable in their lists of career preparation.

Study is a non-stop process that begins when we were born and lasts until the day we leaves this world. We study from everything around us. Any person, any object, any incidence in life might be our teacher. However, among them, parents are the best teachers.
Parents taught me how to walk on my feet and how to speak the very first words. They taught me that what was shining in the sky during daytime was called “sun” and what were flower, water, soil, … I learned basic difinitions from my parents. When I grew up a bit, they taught me how to answer others properly and amiably. When I started going to school, parents were the ones who taught me the things that teachers could not do during 45-minute lessons. For example, if I could not do an assignment, they would gave me some instructions, which my teacher was not able to do to her more than 40 students.
Parents do not only teach me about facts, figures and school’s subjects but, more important, they teach me how to live in this life, how to become a better human. Once I did not do my test well as I spent the day before going out with my most intimate friend. I was disappointed, I cried and I blamed my friend for my failure. We then had a serious argument that seemed to never finish. Luckily, my parents pointed out my mistakes and told me my unaccepted behaviors, my selfish thoughts. Later on, I apologized to my friend and everything was soon forgotten completely. Moreover, I learned a lesson of being hardworking, being responsible for my action. I got the motivation and encouragement to do really well in the final exam, which was more important and could compensate for my poor grade ealier.
Many people, many thing can teach us something but no one can deny the fact that parents are the most influential people in our lives and they are the best teachers.
