It would take a hefty Southern drawl to pull that off. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

But Googled:
82,000 English pages for "sand bucket" 39,600 English pages for "sand pail"

Too bad you didn't also check out the numbers in Google images:
5,680 images for "sand bucket" 6,460 images for "sand pail"
Ms Google can be so fickle... .
Should we attack the next problem now?
Does the diagram of the backhoe below really contain a bucket? Or is that shovel-like part perhaps a shovel? Could the bucket actually be a hoe? Or is that shovel-like part possibly just a pail in disguise? :? .

| According to AHD, it's a bucket = "A receptacle on various machines, such as the scoop of a power shovel or the compartments on a water wheel, used to gather and convey material." |

Hi Haihao
I expected as much. I've actually had the pleasure of operating one of those contraptions, and knowing for sure what the bucket is is kind of fundamental. . _________________ "Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln |

Hi Amy,
To tell the truth, it was not a small surprise to know you, Amy, had the pleasure of operating one of those contraptions?! :D Do you want me to imagine an Amy operating those monsters in that cockpit-like box wearing a uniform? O I'd like to take a look at it! :) |

But what does that tell you regarding language use? Not sure of your point.
