Hi,
Good morning every one!

I have two questions.

1. Can active and passive be used in the same sentence?
2. Which one is preferred, It is noticed or it has been noticed and why?

Regards
Mallinathan

Hi mallinathan,
I think i can give you some ideas.
1. Yes, they can be used in the same sentence, it's up to the situation/ context.
ex: He determines to stay here. (= He decides to stay here.)
He is determinated to stay here. (= He seriously wishes and tries his best to stay here.)
2. I usually use "It is noticed..."

Hi,
I think we should use He is determined?

Yes, they can be used in the same sentence: I went to get some coffee (active) and saw that the pot had been completely emptied (passive).

Can you give the entire sentence for your example please?

Hi Barb and others,
Thank you all very much for showing interest in my question. The reason for asking that question is during Microsoft word spell and grammar checks the second sentence given below did not show any error. So can the second sentence be presumed correct?

1. Kirchoff's current law states that the sum of the currents entering a node must equal zero.
2. Kirchoff's current law has been stated that the sum of the currents entering the junction must equal to zero.

Thanks and regards

Hi Mallinathan

You can't rely on MS Word to find every error for you. It misses a lot of things, and also too often identifies something as an error when in fact there is no error.

Hi,

MS Word doesn't even accept my surname and wants to put an 's' in the spelling!

Same problem !
I wonder what the developers of MS Word were thinking when creating their spell-checker Confused

Yes, Inqa. It was my mistake. You're right.
