Corporal Strappi was a shouty man, but he was a damn political! Sat Jul 12, 2008 10:13 am  Corporal Strappi was a shouty man, but he was a damn political!

Here, please take a look at this.

Quote:
"I only--"

"No onlys! I don't want no onlys! I don't want you to think that I am a shouty man, Halter! Corporal Strappi was a shouty man, but he was a damn political! Upon my oath I am not a shouty man but if you ain't back at your post inside of thirty seconds I'll rip yer tongue out!"

I think the writer meant "Corporal Strappi was a shouty man, but he was a damn political one", but why did he leave it out? Is this common?

And is it "of thirty seconds" the same as "in thirty seconds"?

Many thanks for your attention,
Cantik

.
1-- 'Political' here is used as a pronomial. It is a reasonably common practice in some contexts.

2-- inside of = in (= within)
