Hi,

Can you please explain me the difference between the following sentences? They all look the same to me.

1. His biggest achievement may have been as a regional historian.
2. His biggest achievement may have been being a regional historian.
3. His biggest achievement may have been as being a regional historian.

Thanks,

MG.

.
None works, really. Achievements are actions. #1 suggests that his achievement (e..g writing a book) happened while he was a regional historian. #2 and #3 make the existence as historian the achievement, but the real achievement is becoming one:

His biggest achievement was becoming a regional historian.
