In TOEFL speaking test, sometimes you are asked to "read" a short paragraph. I do not know what the meaning of "read" is. Do I actually need to READ it aloud and be recorded in the microphone, or I only need to read it silently?

hi,im really confused here.Ralf did u say that reading the announcement on task 3 and passage on task 4 of the toefl will be OUT LOUD..what I mean is,do they grade that?please be sure about it coz that might be the reason why I get a low speaking grade..

anybody, or moderators please answer this...please!

No, you don't need to read all the reading passages out loud. However, you need to stick to basic spelling rules in the writing section. Neither 'u' nor 'coz' exist in the English language. Also, you should work on your punctuation and typing skills.

Thank you very much Torsten.I'm relieved,I asked about it because I took the toefl already and I'm waiting for the result.I did'nt read the passages out loud that's why I'm concerned because it might affect my score.Thank's again.
