Hi,

If I want to ask a person to step backward can I say "Go back a stance"? Does it make sense?

Thanks!
Cantik

I don't think so. Maybe "Go back a step" is much better. "Go back to the former stance" is possible but different meaning, IMO.

How do you know "39" = "thank you", Cantik? I am really curious about it!

Hi Alan,

I was just telling Haihao that I know what 39 (pronounced "Sankyu" in Japanese, meaning thank you) means because I live in Japan. And he was curious about Zippon, and I was telling him, by providing the link, that was how the ancient Chinese call Japan.

Best wishes,
Cantik

Actually I didn't know that, what a shame, Sad and I had a misknowledge about it thinking it was Jippon until now.

Best regards,

I'm not so sure about that, Haihao. I think it is just another spelling, I also thought it was Jippon before. Plus, we don't know whether this source is reliable or not.

One thing for sure that Japon is the Senpai (predecessor) of Japan.
