Hi,

Could you pick out the sentences which sound natural to you (if any)
Quote:
1. It would do you well to remember what he has done to you
1. You would do well to remember what he has done to you
1. It would do you better to remember what he has done to you
1. You would do better to remember what he has done to you

Thanks !

Hi,

My favourite would be: You would do well to remember what he has done to you.
1) I would discount 3) I would also discount. 4) This is a construction that really wants to be followed by a positive action as: You would do better to take this opportunity rather than that one.

Quote:
You would do well to remember what he has done to you
suggests to me that you are giving advice and reminding the other person not to forget. It's almost akin to saying: You should.
