I bumped into this on surfing the web.

"Like Jane, I don't smoke."
at this sentence, Jane doesn't smoke, does she?

on the contrary, "I don't smoke, like Jane."
at this sentence, does Jane smoke or not?

Please have me get the answer.

With the comma, neither of you smoke.
Without the comma, in the second sentence, Jane smokes.
