Hi Xavi,
You should use attention in the singular here. If you 'pay attention to something', you are vigilant, alert or attentive. If you 'pay attentions to someone (a girl)', you are courting. In this case, you want to make her (the girl) yours  _________________ Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL Preparation & TOEFL Vocabulary Learn more: How to Become an English Teacher |

Hi, Ralf, thank you so much, for your corrections. so when I use attention in the meaning of attentive or alert or vigilant i should use it singularly. no matter even if the subject is plural. I should use it. singularly. Did i get you exactly?
one more doubt should I use much against the wishes of my parents I joined the army or much against the wish of my parents I joined the army what is right wishes or wish.
please throw some light on it. |

Hi Xavi,
You've got it right - attention should be used in singular unless you describe somebody approaching a girl.
As for your 'wish-question', I'd go for the plural (wishes) here.
All the best,
