Hi,

If somebody, who was initially in charge of handling a certain situation, has delegated to me tackling the problem, so that I've ended up looking for a solution instead of him, can I say it this way:
He has told me to take over on this one.

Thanks !

Hi Alex,

This seems all right to me. I am assuming you are using 'take over' in the sense of 'take control'. This use of 'over' appears in phrases where the responsibility is passed to another. I am imagining a situation where there is a panel of people answering questions. A question comes up and the person chairing the panel turns to one of the members who seems the best qualified with the words: Over to you on this one.

Hi, Alan

Yes, you're assuming right, that's what I had in mind.

Thank you very much!
