Difference between postpone and delay

What the differance between "to postpone" and "to delay" ?

Postpone means move the meeting to another day/time/ Delay simply means do something later and then continue.

So far I can't make head nor tail of the difference between Delay and Postpone?
there seems to be a contradiction.Could you please get it through to me more plainly.
