Well, I am very happy when I have an opportunity to join english-test.net. I would like to thank Torsten so much for your emails during a long time. I think this is the most interesting and helpful address for everyone especially for anybody would like study English as a second language that I have ever known.
My full name is Dang Cong Chanh. I was born in Mekong Delta - An Giang province - Long Xuyen city in Vietnam. I am a 26 man. I like English so much. I think I can communicate with everybody in English in some simple ways, however, my writing is too bad because I haven't had lots of writing lessons in class for a few years. I study grammar. At the moment I am nearly graduating from University as an English teacher so I face lots of difficulties in writing. Sometimes I don't know how to use the correct word in context. I am so agonized now. Hopefully make friends with everyone to share our English experiences. I also look forward to receiving assistance from Admins. Dear Torsten,
Yeah, It took me four years to finish my university course with eight semesters (a semester lasts 4 months). I have to pass both Vietnamese and English subjects. In vietnamese I have Physical Education, General Education, Psychology, Vietnamese Culture, the source of language, and some Political subjects such as Social, Philosophy, Ho Chi Minh ideology, Vietnam Historical party… and in English I study four English skills, Grammar, American culture, British studies, Literature, Methodology, Phonetics, Morphology, Syntax, do action research…and French.
At this present time, I only teach out of school like a tutor. I train them in groups of 3 or 4 pupils who are the same class in secondary school and high school. I try to correct their pronunciation because they almost study grammar only at school. Some other teachers ignore speaking and reading skills. Student must get marks in grammar through their semesters. So I teach them grammar and give them lots of exercises. I also let them use my computer to test their English in some websites. In brief, I manage to help them to use english as a second language.

what are the job prospects for English teachers in Vietnam?
Anyone would like to become an English teachers in Vietnam must past through 3 years in college or 4 years in unviersity in english teaching department. Then, the local committee will arrange them to teach in a school, but as far as I know that students must find a job for themselves in next few years because there are lots of new english teachers now. Some of them apply for a job in the city instead of serving at schools because of money, opportunities to study more.
