Hi Torsten,
Let's me introduce myself. I'am Zawawi. I come from Indonesia (have you heard my country name?). I'm a member of this forum. I just read your articles you posted at glance and not all your article I read them although I know your articles are very useful to improve my english. I often don't understand the meaning of your words in the article because my lack of vocabulary.
By the way, I joined english course in my company and you know I felt hard to understand at listening lesson. I try to focus/concentrate to the voice of the lesson but I still didn't understand the lesson. Today I read your tips to take action in listening lesson by listen to the english matter from any sources but I have difficulties to find them, do you have any idea?

That's it and sorry if my writing is hard to be understood.

regards,
zawawi

Hi Zawawi,

Many thanks for sharing your experiences with me. Yes, I have heard of Indonesia and I'm very glad to have a new forum member from that country. As for your message, I can understand everything you are saying. I know that especially at the beginning of the learning process it is difficult to to listen to texts that contain a lot of new words. The trick is not to bother about those new words because if you continue listening, you will hear them over and over again.

When you hear a new word, you don't understand the meaning of it because you the word for the first time. Don't worry about it. Relax. Continue listening and concentrate on the words you DO understand. It is important for you to spend at least one hour listening to English every single day. Do this for at least one month you will notice how your subconscious mind helps you absorb and understand new words.

Let me know what you think.
Regards,
Torsten
PS: Please tell me more about the English course you started in your company. What voice do you seem to a hard time to understand?
